To me the knowledge that Jesus was tempted jus as I am but without sin helps me to feel that Jesus actually understands me. If Jesus had just had a smooth and sheltered life I would feel no connection with him. I would be able to say " how can Jesus judge me, He has no idea what I am going through." but I know Jesus went through more than I ever have or will go through.
I think that verse in Hebrews is an understatement. Jesus wasn't just tempted in all ways like I was. Jesus was tempted by Satan himself. I'm pretty sure I don't have the honor and privilege of being tested by Satan himself. Any one of the fallen angels could take me down easily. Just that thought weakens my faith. But because Jesus struggled against Satan and all of his angels, carried all of our sins on his shoulders, and still prevailed, I can know how truly great and powerful my Jesus is and how much he loves me despite how weak I am. And that strengthens my faith. ~BRoAD valleY
In the bible Satan had confronted Jesus, and he was trying to tempt him. But Jesus had held his ground. This helps me relate to Him because He was tempted just like I am. He knows the struggles we go trough to stay faithful to him, and He gets it!! He understands the difficulty. This also breaks down the barrier, that He is God, and i am human. That God doesn't understand what Im going through. ~NaviGator
Well i really think that making Jesus human in our brains is a very Hard task! We can't get over the fact that he is 100% God and 100% Human. It is comforting to know that he was tempted like us. It shows me that God is true and just and didnt just put this glowing halo around Jesus so he never fell or scraped his knee! Although he did not fall, he still felt the pull and effects that we feel! In the year 2009, there are temptations every corner! That is why in our society today we need to have our guard that much higher and our trust in God so much more! ~Jae<3Cie
We always look at Jesus as though everything was easy for him. But it wasn’t. Jesus was tempted just like we are tempted today. Jesus was just like us, trying to keep his head above water. It gives me hope because Jesus was tempted and never sinned even once. That means with God’s help he can get me through the tribulations I’m going through right now. -ROB
The knowledge that Jesus was tempted just the same as we are is strengthening to us because we look at Jesus as if he is a super human who doesn’t do anything wrong. But no Jesus was tempted in the same ways we are and he over came them. This helps us as young people to see that it is possible to over come the sins of this world as Jesus did when he came down to this earth. ~J Navonod
To me it shows that he is the source for our victory. He is the one to go to when we feel that we are hopless. "For in that he himelf hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted" (Heb 2:18).
Jesus was tempted just like we are everyday and he did not sin once while he was on this earth. I think its kinda cool to know that Jesus knows what we are going through when we are being tempted and can relate with us. He knows how to get us through the tough times. He was taken out to the wilderness and tempted by Satan himself but He never gave in to sin.
I feel that since Jesus was able to endure all the temptations that I fail at everyday for 30 years it makes me realize that I can at least make one if not all improvements on my life. I have more faith in God in this year because I have had a lot of things that I have failed at and they were pretty minor compared to what Jesus went through. When He was in the wilderness Satan temped Him with food and power and pride and He was able to resist all of them even though he was extremely hungry. I understand the reason he resisted the temptation for power because it was already his. It just makes me realize that I am so weak compared to Him and i can do nothing with out His help.
Jesus was tempted by Satin about things that wre realy easy for him to do like turn rocks to bread. this makes me feel like I can with Jesuses help acomplish and overcome anything.
knowing this is inspiring and faith building because it tells me personally that if God came to live an example of what i am to live here on earth, then i know that if God could live with temptation yet not sin, i can do it also. The difference between God and i is that His faith was so strong it was unbreakable. My faith however is weakend easily. Living by Jesus' example though, helps build the cofindence i need to strengthen that faith. ~Mz NaShViLlE
Knowing that God was tempted in all ways yet he did not sin really strengthens my faith in the sense that i know that its not impossible to live a life like the one Jesus did. In the Bible it says that Christ came to show us and be an example as to how we should live. He came to show us the way. It also says in the Bible that "I can do ALL things through CHRIST who gives me strength." (Phil. 4:13) Therefore, i know that although i may not be perfect now, with the help of Christ, i can continue to strive to be because he came and showed us that it can be done! =] JGirl
